The writings of the French historian and politician Louis Blanc (1811-82) had a considerable influence on the development of French socialism. Volume 9 of this twelve-volume history, first published in 1857, opens with the Constitution of 1793 and focuses on the counter-revolutionary movements in the Vendee and in Lyon.
