Hurricane Harvey Lowku

Elaine Parker Adams is one of the many survivors of Hurricane Harvey, which devastated the Houston, Texas area in 2017. Although her life goes on, it is forever altered, as she experienced the terror of the storm, the uncertainty of evacuation, and the difficult rebuilding of her home. Writing Hurricane Harvey Lowku allowed Adams to explore the storm and flooding, as well as the rescue, recovery, and rebuilding, through a unique blend of poetry and narrative. Lowku is a type of haiku focused on social issues. As this book helped Adams chronicle, understand, and heal from tragedy, Hurricane Harvey Lowku will benefit other individuals in communities combatting disasters and reclaiming their homes and lives.
