LASERS IN ORAL MEDICINE - A CRITICAL REVIEW

This textbook emphasizes about the one of the emerging modality, Lasers in the field of oral medicine. Laser was introduced in the field of dentistry, in 1960s by Miaman, which led to a continuous research in the various applications of lasers in dental practice. Laser has potential analgesic, biostimulatory and immunomodulatory effects, as well as for improving healing, when comparing to other conventional treatment modalities. In oral medicine Laser has wider applications in treating Temporomandibular disorders, Potentially malignant disorders, Candidiasis, Recurrent aphthous stomatitis, Herpes Labialis, Chemoradiation mucositis and Mucocele.
