Magic in Children's Fiction

Harry Potters¿ phenomenal success and the revival of the old traditional tales of magic at the end of the twentieth century and the beginning of the third millennium arouse great controversy that deserves to be studied. This paradoxical phenomenon attracts attention to the concept of magic, its roots, and its impact on society and literature as well. This study aims to elucidate the significant role of magic in characterizing children¿s fiction including its narrative techniques, settings, plots, characters, and themes with a reference to some selected works of the two English writers Tolkien and Rowling.
