Über Mathematical Skeletonization, The Secret of Optimization
Mathematical skeletonization is a technique that consists of extracting the skeleton from a 2D or 3D shape. Several techniques are used, however they differ by their efficiency, their precision and the speed of extraction. In this book, we present to the readers one of our techniques which is based on the bisection of angles under constraint to respond to the initial definition of the mathematical skeleton based on the maximum balls and discs. Our method is optimal because it is limited to a very limited number of extremal points of the shape. Also, in this book, the reader will encounter very interesting applications of skeletonization such as time optimization of cancer treatment time, and process optimization of intelligent irrigation.
