Über MAXILLARY EXPANSION IN ADULTS
Maxillary expansion in adults is considered a challenging treatment modality for the correction of a transverse maxillary deficiency due to skeletal maturity. Orthopedic maxillary expansion in adults opens a variety of nonsurgical/non-extraction treatment options in severe dentofacial and skeletal discrepancies. Maxillary transverse deficiency usually requires expansion by a combination of orthopedic and orthodontic tooth movements. In adults, different treatment modalities are used today such as Rapid maxillary expansion, SARME, MARPE, MSE, etc. The objective of this study is to review maxillary expansion in adults by different modalities and a brief on commonly used appliances.
