Über The Bidirectional Association between Diabetes and Alzheimer¿s Disease
About 60¿70% of diabetics exhibit mild to severe forms of nervous system damage. Understanding the link between type 2 diabetes mellitus and Alzheimer¿s disease is increasingly important. This study was a trial to focus light on several aspects associated with type 2 diabetes that contribute to Alzheimer¿s disease and vice versa. In addition, the present study revealed the importance of A¿40, A¿42, insulin, HbA1c, lipid profile disturbance, CRP, D-dimer and magnesium in the bidirectional association between type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer¿s disease pathogenesis which is powered by their association and thus the possibility of depending on the amyloid beta as biochemical marker of type 2 diabetes in Alzheimer's patients was suggested. Also in future, new therapeutic potentials such as neutralization of A¿ by anti-A¿ antibodies could be a new strategy for addressing insulin resistance and diabetes.
