The effectiveness of the mass media use in teaching listening

Listening is a complex receptive mental-mnemonic activity associated with the perception, understanding and active processing of information contained in an oral speech message. One of the most important skills in learning a foreign language is listening to the words of a foreign language by ear, responding to what is heard and obtaining the necessary information and understanding it. Until a few years ago, most of the time in schools was devoted to teaching writing, speaking, reading and listening. But in real communicative situations, a person who has developed only reading and writing skills for several years turns out to be completely helpless when confronted with foreign language speech. The above controversy led to the formulation of the problem, the essence of which is how and in what way education should be organized, aimed at shaping the personality of students, revealing their abilities, and preparing them for life in the modern world.
