Lives of the Queens of Scotland and English Princesses

Agnes Strickland (1796-1874) and her sister Elizabeth collaborated on many biographical projects, including this eight-volume series. Pioneering figures in women's history, they included discussion of domestic matters ignored by earlier historians. Volume 7 (1858) covers Mary Stuart's final years of imprisonment, leading up to her execution in 1587.
